Worth $1.78 mln irrigation projects kicked off in Nangarhar

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, during his visit to the country’s eastern province of Nangarhar, in an official ceremony, kicked off construction work on some irrigation projects worth 1.78 million U.S. dollars, the ministry said in a statement the other day. The ceremony was attended by several provincial officials, scholars and locals, the statement said. The projects include the construction of check dams, and the reconstruction of canals and streams, with financial support of the Japanese PMS organization, which will be implemented in Nazian district of the province, the state ment said. Praising the organization’s work, Mullah Mansoor said that the Islamic Emirate works around the clock for the progress and reconstruction of the country, according to the statement. With the implementation of the project, dozens of people will be provided with job opportunities. It is to be noted that the Islamic Emirate has implemented hundreds of projects in water management throughout the country. The Kabul Times
