Work on 6 uplift projects kicked off in Farah

FARAH: Construction work on six development projects worth 316,620 U.S. dollars has been started in the country’s western province of Farah, the provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department said in a statement Tuesday. Provincial Director of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Directorate Moham mad Naseem Sarhang said that the projects including 2 water supply projects, a 19-kilometer reservoir in order to raise the level of underground water, cleaning of 5 canals, construction of a 600-meter-long canal, a small dam and digging of 16 wells and will be constructed in Gulistan district of the province, according to the statement. “The project with the financial support of SI organization will be implemented within 3 months in 28 villages of the district and will provide over 1,500 families with clean drinking water,” the statement quoted Sarhang as saying. Sarhang also added in addition to projecting 340 families from floods, the projects will provide nearly 1,000 people with job opportunities. The Kabul Times
