Work on 585 projects underway in Badakhshan

KABUL: Work on up to 585 projects were underway in the country’s northern province of Badakhshan, a local official said the other day.
“This year, work on 585 projects, which have been started few weeks ago, are now underway in the province,
the Provincial Department of Economy said in a statement adding that 85 national and international organizations involved in conducting the projects, have provided job opportunities to 2,509 people, including 763 women, in 585 projects in 7 different sectors.
The projects are expected to be completed within 6 months of the current year, according to the statement.
The total cost of the projects has been estimated 57 million Afghanis, he added.
“344 projects have been carried out by international organizations and 241 projects by national organizations in this province,” he said.
Dr. Shams Ali Shams, the regional manager of the Agha Khan Foundation in Badakhshan said that the priorities of their foundation are the launching of projects in remote areas.
