Work on 3 power projects kicked off in Jawzjan

KABUL: Construction work on three electricity projects worth 390 million Afghani (some 5.5 million U.S. dollars) in an official ceremony, has been kicked off in the country’s northern province of Jawzjan, Radio Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported Saturday. The ceremony was attended by several local authorities, scholars and Mujahidin, RTA said. The provincial Deputy Governor Qari Gul Haidar Shafaq said that the projects include the con struction of a large power substation with a capacity of 220 KV and a 220 KV power transmission line and a power distribution network in the five districts of Agcha, according to the TV. Also, Engineer Safiullah Ahmadzai, the Operational Deputy of the provincial Breshna Sherkat, said that projects will be implemented within one year and provide more than 100,000 families with electricity in the said districts of the province.
