Women chromatic presence in economic activities

Considering few decades war and insecurity in Afghanistan and important from all ruling of traditional considerations in connection with economic partnership of women, we have no expectation for occurrence of fundamental changes in this field. But, as a result of efforts made by some government institutions and women unions, within recent years parallel with their growth in other aspects of life, women have chromatic presence in economic activities and vast, serious and effective steps have been taken in the connection.
Women handicrafts, having small and large productive and food items plants, establishment of little garden, poultry farms, cattle breeding, engagement in small cloths shops are from among those activities that women did to promote their family economy in some extent.
Because of eye-catching women activities in the sector of economy and recently seven women from Bamyan were appointed as members of Board of Directorate of Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The ministry of commerce and industry has proclaimed that based on new law of chamber of commerce and schedule of election time-table, the election of commerce and industry of women held in Bamyan that as a result, seven women have been elected as members of board of directorate of chamber of commerce and industry.
For the first time, the women election of chamber and industry was held in Kabul and with gaining of further votes, 15 women were elected as members of board of directorate of chamber of commerce and industry.
Based on this time-table, it is planned that the election of chamber of commerce and industry of women to be held in the course of August and September of current year in Nimroz, Andkhoy, Herat, Parwan, Paktika, Nangarhar, Jawzjan, Badakhshan, Paktia, Laghman, Kapisa, Balkh, Farah, Kandahar, Takhar, Khost, Kunar, Panjsher, Spin Boldak, Kunduz, Ghazni, Maidan-Wardak and Kabul.
One of entrepreneurs women, Guljan in a briefing with The Kabul Times said in regard with the role of women in promotion of economic situation of families in the society that the laws approve by the ministry of commerce and industry for the economic activities of women especially for investment is very effective.
Annually, entrepreneur women should be elected in the field of economic activities’ high posts through election of chamber of commerce and industry.
Because, when this process to be held transparently, women can have trust on those women who are elected by chamber of commerce and industry of women and continue their economic activities in the future.
She adds that it should not be forgotten that the laws of Afghanistan considered the right of work as a human right for the women even in the bills of ministry of labour and social affairs. 50 percent occupation right is allocated for women in government posts while some families are in contradiction with out-door activity of women.
According to her, Bagh-i-Zanana and Babur Shah gardens are the work places for women.
Tailoring, cooking meals, selling of handicrafts made by women, varieties of jewelries are the items sold by women in these two aforementioned places and are enjoying from much customers.
But, despite of these, if government support them, the women activity will grow.
As it was mentioned, a small number of women have possibility to be active in vast economic area.
If suitable other possibilities be provided for them, this would cause the women to leave home for out-door and promote their economic activities in places are allocated for this goal.
A number of experts in commerce and economy of Afghanistan are laying emphasize that economic promotion of women helps reduce poverty and social violences in the country.
They say the commerce growth of women also helps beside poverty reduction, it would also help promotion of national income and autarchy of women as well and the society to move towards self-sufficiency.
Although, the business women of Afghanistan who are engaged in various fields from among them carpet-weaving, package of fruits and food items, saffron, husbandry and handicrafts but since few years to date, these women are making effort to reduce their investment in traditional sectors but increase in modern ones.
