Wakhan Corridor expands trade between Afghanistan and China, Azizi

KAUBL: Nuruddin Azizi the acting Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan for Commerce and Industry, attended an online conference titled “The International Friendship Cities” in China, the ministry said in a statement the other day.
In the ceremony, Azizi thanked the efforts of the Chinese embassy in exemption of costume tariffs for the Afghan commodities and said the economic programs and supporting the activities of the private sector were at the priority of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the statement quoted.
“The economic commission, the ministries and the sectoral administrations of Afghanistan are making efforts to pave the way for increase in trade between Afghanistan and neighboring countries, particularly the Republic of China,” the statement quoted him as saying.
According to him, Wakhan Corridor or the historical Silk Road can increase the level of trade between the two countries and be a sure route for goods’ shipment between the two sides.
He spoke about the opening of the corridor by the Islamic Emirate and asked the People Republic of China for acceleration of efforts in opening the vital route, the statement added.
The acting commerce minister asked Chinese investors to visit Afghanistan and seek investment opportunities in the country.
This is to be noted relation between Afghanistan and China is not only in the interest of both countries but if the Wakhan Corridor was reopened, Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan and China would also benefit the key trade way.
