VP Danesh stresses strong leadership in Afghanistan’s diplomatic system

KABUL: During a ceremony at the Foreign Ministry’s Storai Palace, the Second Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Sarwar Danesh officially introduced Mohammad Haroon Chakhansuri as the new Acting and Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs on Thursday, a MoFA statement said. The occasion was attended by members of the Cabinet, members of the National Assembly, senior government officials and officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, according to the statement.
Asadullah Ghazanfar, president’s advisor in cultural affairs, reading out the decree said that Chakhansouri was appointed as deputy political head and acting foreign minister until the appointment of minister for the position.
Addressing the event, Second vice-president said the country’s diplomatic system required a strong management leadership for strengthening relations between foreign countries. The second VP said that Afghanistan was connected to international conversion and accords and they would be maintained only if strong management, transparent policies, and honesty were in place.
The conflict in the country, the ongoing peace process, disordered economic situation and the nature of cooperation from regional and cross-regional countries in the current diplomatic system of the country which represented the country’s foreign policy needed a fair evaluation and strong leadership, he said.
During this ceremony, outgoing Deputy Foreign Minister Idrees Zaman congratulated and wished success to Chakhansuri. He also pointed out about some of his achievements at the Ministry, particularly the reforms package that he had developed during his tenure as the Acting Foreign Minister. Expressing his gratitude for the initiatives undertaken, Chakhansuri appreciated Zaman with respect to developing the reforms package. The newly appointed Acting Foreign Minister spoke in details about the main points of reforms in consideration of perspectives of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan within the framework of the five-circle of Afghanistan Foreign Policy, the statement added.
