Uzbekistan hands over tons of food & medicine to Afghanistan

Uzbekistan has delivered four thousand tons of foodstuff and medicine aid to Afghanistan to be distributed to needy people of the country. According to local officials in Balkh, the aid have been delivered via ground railway transport of Hairatan port to Afghanistan and submitted to local Afghan officials.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, by confirming the delivery of the foodstuff and medicine aid provided by Uzbekistan said that 4,000 tons of various food and medicine aid included as flour, cooking oil, garments, medicine, vaccine and other essential items have been delivered in 58 wagons to Afghanistan.
In a tweet, Mujahid thanked Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his generous assistance to the people of Afghanistan on the eve of Eid-ul-fitr. He said the aid was handed over to the Islamic Emirate officials by the special representative of the Uzbekistan president.
Previously, Uzbekistan had also provided food and medicine aid to the people of Afghanistan. The Uzbek government has committed to continued aid to Afghanistan.
This comes amid increasing poverty in the country.
It seems that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) is planning to distribute the aid to needy and miserable people in the country. A number of Afghan citizens in their interviews with The Kabul Times correspondent have said that they have not received any aid provided by the regional countries, asking the IEA to pay attention in this regard.
“As you and all people of Afghanistan witness increasing number of beggars gathering usually in front of bakeries to get a loaf of bread to eat, it will be good if they’re provided with regular aid delivered by some neighboring and regional countries,” said Noor Ahmad, a Kabul resident. He added that Kabul municipality should include the most miserable and needy families in a list to get the aid on regular basis.
A number of those who have received the aid are asking for more such food and medicine aid, appreciating countries providing them with the aid. They have also appreciated the IEA for distribution the aid during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid days.
On the other hand, Afghan economists believe that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) can only address the issue of increasing poverty in the country when they create employment opportunities for the people. According to the economists, poverty will be gradually rooted out if people particularly miserable people are provided with opportunities of enduring employment in the country.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia distributed food aid to nearly 850 families in Kabul. The aid has been provided and distributed by King Salman Humanitarian and Aid Center. It is worth mentioning that the center is determined to distribute food aid to 18,500 families in seven provinces of the country where more than 111,000 people will benefit from the aid.
In the past few months, a number of regional, neighboring and world countries have delivered food aid to the people of Afghanistan.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has asked the international community for continued support and aid to the people of Afghanistan.
