US support key for regional consensus: FM Atmar

KABUL: Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Haneef Atmar met with Chargé d’ Affaires of the US Embassy in Kabul, Ross Wilson, to discuss bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and the Afghan peace process.
Referring to the recent visit of the Afghan High Level Delegation to the United States of America, Minister Atmar expressed gratitude to the United States for its continued support and cooperation following the withdrawal of the Resolute Support forces from Afghanistan, a MoFA statement said. Minister Atmar, as quoted in the statement, also spoke about the recent developments in the Afghan peace process and the political and security situation in the country. Referring to the recent developments, he called the US support for strengthening regional consensus valuable and important for the success of the process. Considering the outcomes of his talks with the US State Department during his recent visit to Washington, Minister Atmar emphasized the importance of continuing bilateral consultations and consolidating the foundations of political dialogue.
The Charge d’ Affaires of the US Embassy reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continue support the Afghan peace process, preservation, and enhancement of Afghanistan’s achievements over the last two decades.
