Update on Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai’s injury status

KABUL: Afghanistan’s Cricket Ace Rashid Khan recently missed two ODIs against Sri Lanka due to an injury. Although he made a comeback in the series decider, the team management and medical team have decided to prioritize his long-term fitness. After thorough consultations and assessments, it has been decided that Rashid Khan will not be included in the squad for the oneoff test against Bangladesh. Despite being fit, our selectors, team management, and medical professionals believe it is crucial not to rush his return. They have taken a cautious approach to ensure he receives adequate rest and rehabilitation, allowing him to regain full fitness before the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh and crucial tournaments such as the ACC Asia Cup and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. In addition, rising all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai has also encountered a groin injury, which prevented him from being part of the playing XI in the series decider against Sri Lanka today. He will undergo rehab and will remain under full medical observation until his return. Mokhtar Safi
