UNICEF asked to cooperate with AFDA

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Omer asked Dr. Shafiq to cooperate with
the AFDA in the of laboratories that determine the safety
and quality of medicine and food in the country, according to the statement.

Kabul: The Head of the Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority (AFDA) of the Islamic Emirate Dr. Abdul Bari Umar met with the UNICEF’s Health Lead in Afghanistan, Dr. Fauzia Shafiq, the authority said in a statement on Tuesday. Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Umar asked Dr. Shafiq to cooperate with the AFDA in the es tablishment of laboratories that determine the safety and quality of medicine and food in the country, according to the statement. Appreciating the efforts and achievements of the AFDA, Dr. Shafiq said the authority has made tangible development in a short period, the statement added. “They will remain in Afghanistan and support the AFDA in any situation. UNICEFand other related institutions have evaluated the domestic sources of medicines in Afghanistan to provide the drugs from the inside of the country, and therefore they will use these sources,” the statement quoted Dr. Shafiq as saying.
