Undocumented Afghan refugees worry about census in Iran

KABUL: Afghan people living in Iran expressed concern over what they said a census being taken in the hosting country, where it may cause problems with their current immigration status.
An Afghan refugee Parviz Amiri speaking with media said: “Afghan refugees living in Iran were afraid of the census, as their information are being recorded that would result in their expulsion. However, the plan to identify and count undocumented Afghan immigrants in Iran has been welcomed by many immigrants, but there are some who are afraid because they are worried that they will not be allowed extensions,” said Asifa Stanekzai, an Afghan refugee rights activist in Iran.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate has sent a delegation to Iran to study the situation of Afghan refugees and asylum seekers in that country.
Spokesman of the IEA and deputy to the Ministry of Information and Culture Zabihullah Mujahid said the issue of immigrants was very important and a delegation was sent to cooperate in this field.
Hundreds of Afghan refugees have recently been deported by the Iranian and Turkish governments.
