UNAMA should consider Afghanistan as mission extended

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) extended the mission of UNAMA in Afghanistan on March 13, a move that has been welcomed by the people of Afghanistan. They hope that the organization will cooperate with Afghanistan in reflecting the realities to the world and adopt a reality-based approach to eliminate the distance and misunderstandings between Afghanistan and the world. Welcoming the extension of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan’s (UNAMA) mandate, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, has called on UNAMA to pursue its mission based on the interests of Afghan citizens. Mujahid said that the body should prepare and present reports on the current realities of Afghanistan. Mujahid said, “UNAMA’s mission should encompass all issues that connect both the United Nations community and the people of Afghanistan, and must also consider the realities of Afghanistan in its mission.” Some global institutions have also asked UNAMA to prioritize the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan in its agenda. This is a clear issue that after the collapse of the republican regime and the withdrawal of the U.S.-led occupying forces from Afghanistan resumption of power by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), the security situation has improved, and significant and tangible progress has been made in various fields and Afghans with peace of mind and confidence is living in a peaceful and comfortable environment in the country. Unfortunately, after the takeover of the country by the Islamic Emirate, most of the time, the facts and realities have been distorted and biased reports regarding women and human rights have been published that don’t match the facts and realities inside the country. Therefore, the people of Afghanistan hope the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) by extending its mission, will maintain its independence and neutrality, strive to reflect the facts and the principles of reality, and convince the world to avoid double deal with the Afghan people and accept the facts instead seeking excuses in officially recognition of the Islamic Emirate. After decades of continued and devastating war, migration and hardships, the Afghan people have just achieved the blessing of freedom, security and complete peace and have been experiencing a peaceful life for more than two years and they don’t want to once again lose this great achievement and opportunity. As well as they won’t allow any group to create disunity among Afghans and insecurity in the country. So, it would be better for the UNAMA to understand the sensitive issues in Afghanistan and present issues in its reports that are compatible with the realities and the essence of the issue and the spirit of the Afghan people and feel responsible for this important matter.
