UN to provide $4.6 billion in aid for Afghans in 2023

KABUL: Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Martin Griffiths Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator leading a high-ranking delegation, the ministry said in a statement Tuesday.
Griffiths, expressed his satisfaction and said that due to sure security, the UN has been able to extend services to each parts of the country.
Martin also announced the collection of 4.6 billion dollars in 2023 and its distribution to 28 million Afghans, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, the United Nations representative shared his concerns about the women’s work and education and their impact on their careers.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Muttaqi thanked the Under-Secretary General and senior delegation of the United Nations for their visit and said that Afghanistan is a part of the international community. “The United Nations can play a constructive role in bringing Afghanistan and the world closer together” Muttaqi added.
He further said that the Islamic Emirate announced general amnesty that was unprecedented in the country’s history.
Muttaqi asked the delegation to share the latest achievements and opportunities in Afghanistan with the international community in a real manner along with criticisms and gaps.
He heard the concerns of the visiting delegation and expressed special thanks for the resumption of the activity of the “Care International” organization.
