UK will not support armed opposition groups in Afghanistan, Dickson

Addressing the meeting, Minister Muttaqi highlighted the current conditions as a good opportunity for the development of economic and political issues along with humanitarian aid, according to the statement.

KABUL: The acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Robert Dickson, the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the UK Mission to Afghanistan, the ministry said in a statement Tuesday. In the meeting, Dickson said: “The United Kingdom wants a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and will not support any opposition groups,” according to the statement. Addressing the meeting, Minister Muttaqi highlighted the current conditions as a good opportunity for the development of economic and political issues along with humanitarian aid, according to the statement. Dickson also emphasized that his country always wants a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and strongly rejects and doesn’t support opposition groups to achieve political goals in this country.
