KABUL: A plane carrying 38 tons of supplies arrived in Kabul from the United Arab Emirates  (UAE) to distribute aids for the families of the recent earthquakes, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Khani Beradar said in a statement the other day. The dispatched aids included medical and food supplies and expected to be distributed for thousands of needy people who have been affected by the recent earthquakes in the country, according to the statement. “The aid will be distributed transparently to the needy and affected citizens by the concerned ministries and departments, the statement quoted Mawlavi Abdullah Azam the Special Secretary of the Deputy PM for Economic Affairs as saying. “On Friday evening, the Foreign Ministry in Abu Dhabi said the provision of the supplies was part of the UAE’s enduring efforts to provide urgent relief to countries affected by natural disasters,” according to another source.  The UAE built a 1,000- square-meter field hospital with 75 beds that could threat up to 200 patients per day in the wake of an earlier quake in Khost province, in June 2022, a separate source said. Since 2021, the UAE has sent 623 tons of medical and food supplies to Afghanistan, benefitting some 1.1 million people,  including 850,000 women and children. The Kabul Times
