U.S. claim that Daesh has grown in Afghanistan untrue, IEA

The Islamic Emirate has rejected the US most recent claim that Daesh has grown in Afghanistan. The Islamic Emirate spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid has rejected US claims that the Islamic State Khorasan branch have grown more active in Afghanistan as ‘not true’. The Islamic Emirate spokesperson refuted a US official’s claim that the Islamic State group had an increased presence in Afghanistan. Zabihullah Mujahid, the Islamic Emirate spokesperson, tweeted on Saturday that the US claims were “not true”.“ The statements of US officials about the number of ISIS in Afghanistan are not true. Daesh militants have already been reduced in ranks and suppressed,”Mujahid tweeted. Mujahid further accused the United States of abetting militants from the Islamic State. “The interest of the US officials in this matter and their grandiosityis aiding and abetting the ISIS insurgents, which should be stopped,” he said in a follow-up tweet. Last week, senior US general Michael Kurilla, the head of the US Central Command, told the House Armed Services Committee that “ISIS is stronger today in Afghanistan”. “They can do external operations against US or Western interests abroad in under six months with little to no warning, ”Previously, Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, had also rejected physical existence of Daesh in the country. Mattaqi had said that Daesh has no physical presence in Afghanistan. In his most recent interview with National Television of Afghanistan(RTA) news, the country’s minister of foreign affairs has added that Daesh has been suppressed in Afghanistan. Muttaqi had claimed that there was no group opposing the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan and that the perpetrators of some events come from out side .In his most recent op-ed for Al Jazeera, the country’s minister of foreign affairs has assured the world of better security situation in Afghanistan. “The security situation has improved significantly. Violence levels have dropped sharply over the past 18 months and continue to reach new lows, despite doomsday predictions from critics of the new government in Kabul,” Muttaqi said. Acting minister of foreign affairs went on to say that the Islamic Emirate has established a professional security force, maintained nationwide security and ensured that no one uses the territory of Afghanistan against other countries. Meanwhile, the people are also happy about better security situation as they can travel freely across the country without any security issues.
