U.K. will not support militancy against Afghanistan

KABUL: British Ambassador to Afghanistan Hugo Shorter, in a meeting with the country’s acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in Doha of Qatar, assured him of not supporting any anti-Afghanistan militancy, a statement from the ministry said.
“U.K. will not support any armed oppositions against new Afghan government and neither such move is helpful,” the ambassador was quoted by the statement as saying.
Shorter strongly condemned the recent deadly attacks on non-militaries’ targets and expressed his sympathy over wide civilians’ live losses in Afghanistan.
The ambassador, according to the statement, welcomed the Islamic Emirate’s efforts to ban drug cultivation and production and reaffirmed his country’s commitment for a joint work with the World Bank to provide livelihoods for the vulnerable Afghan farmers, the statement further said.
Leading a government delegation, including the acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mawlavi Khairullah Khairkhwah and Deputy Defense Minister, the acting Foreign Minister arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, late on Friday to discuss issues for the contract of Afghanistan’s five airports with the Qatari side.
