Türkiye sends another shipment of humanitarian aid to Herat quake-affected families

KABUL: The Turkish government sent another shipment of 620 tons of humanitarian aid to the earthquake-affected families in the country’s western province of Herat, the office of the provincial Red Crescent Society said in a statement Wednesday. The aids included flour, tents, blankets, wheelchairs, health packages and essential household items that arrived in Herat through Turghondi port and were handed over to the officials of the provincial Red Crescent Society, the statement said. Meanwhile, Mawlavi Abdul Latif Sabet the operational deputy of the general secretary of the provincial Red Cres cent Society said: “This was the ninth aid shipment of humanitarian assistance for the earthquake-affected families that is handed over to the department.” A 6.3 magnitude earthquake had struck the province resulting in over 1,400 deaths and the destruction of thousands of homes In October last year in Herat.
