JALALABAD: The traditional annual “Narinj Gul” or orange blossom and poetry festival held in the country’s eastern province of Nangarhar, a statement from the provincial Information and Culture Department said Tuesday.
The festival was attended by a number of the country’s high-ranking officials, writers, poets, and hundreds of local residents, as well as poets and officials from the Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa, said the statement.
Meanwhile, provincial Director of Information and Culture Mawlavi Noor Mohammad Hanif spoke about importance and history of the festival and said that due to arrival of the Holy Month of Ramadan the festival held a few days earlier.
“The aim of the festival is to develop the country’s culture and literature,” the statement quoted Hanif as saying.
In the festival, all poets presented their poems as well as the theater team of the Information and Culture and Education Departments of Nangarhar presented their interesting dramatizations to the participants.
