Thousands of Afghans provided with healthcare last month, WHO

KABUL: A total of 344,394 people have been provided with health care services in 25 provinces of the country in January 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement the other day. During the same period, 268,000 patients have received essential medicine, the statement said, adding the services have been provided by WHO partner- organizations through 222 health centers in the provinces. “At the same time, 38,029 children under the age of five have been treated for malnutrition. 2,314 babies have been born and 11,266 women given antenatal care coverage and 6,889 postnatal care coverage,” the statement said. A few days ago, UNICEF said it had provided health services to 300,000 people in remote areas of Afghanistan during this winter. The Kabul Times
