Thousands of acres of usurped state land reclaimed in Kunduz

KUNDUZ: Over 14,500 acres of usurped state land have been reclaimed in the country’s northern province of Kunduz, the provincial Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department said in a statement the other day. Director of the provincial agriculture, irrigation and livestock department Mawlavi Amanullah Hassan said that 14,500 acres of state land had been usurped by powerful individuals, officials of the previous government and common people, according to the statement. “After the establishment of the commission concerned to prevent land usurpation in the province, the usurped land which was located in Kunduz city and the rest in districts has been wrested back by the commission, the statement quoted Mawlavi Hassan as saying. He said that most of the lands were usurped in Imam Sahib and Qala-e-Zal districts, where 1,700 acres were reclaimed, adding that efforts were underway to reclaim the remaining usurped lands, the statement added.
