Those behind air pollution should be legally treated: Dr. Abdullah

KABUL: The High Counter Air Pollution Committee has held a meeting chaired by Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah at the Spidar Palace here on Sunday. The meeting discussed several issues on agendas, including burning coal, low quality petroleum and leather which heavily causing air pollution in the capital Kabul, said a statement from the CE office. Brick kilns, residential townships and trade centers, according to the statement have been warned to ban burning low quality petroleum, coal and other heavy smoke producing materials or would be fined and legally treated. The trade centers have also been urged to install filters in their factories and plants to avoid smoke spread to the air and polluting the city. The National Environment Agency has also been said to distribute masks among the citizens to help them rescue from the tick smoke originated diseases, said the statement. Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah meantime warned those endangering the people live by using leathers, plastic and other mass smoke producing plants like kilns should be treated seriously, according to the statement. The CE also urged for coordination between the government organs on one side and the National Environment Committee on the other for acceleration of anti-pollution campaign in the city.
