KABUL: First Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund met with the Uzbek National Security Council Advisor and Special Representative of the President for Foreign Policy, Abdul Aziz Kamilov at the Char Chenar Palace, here on Sunday, his office said
Both sides discussed bilateral relations and strengthening relations of Afghanistan with the international community and early launching of major economic projects and mutual cooperation, a statement released from his office said.
“After the Islamic Emirate’s takeover of Afghanistan, a new chapter is opened in relations between the two countries and we are optimistic to see joint talks are being held on Afghanistan’s economic reconstruction and strengthening the economic system,” said the Uzbek envoy as quoted in the statement.
Tashkent would host an international conference on Afghanistan on July, to which a high-level representative of the Islamic Emirate would also be invited, said Kamelov.
The IEA Deputy Prime Minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund congratulated Kamilov on his new appointment and welcomed the international conference being hosted by Tashkent, calling it a positive step towards building ties between the two nations.
Beradar also stressed that Uzbekistan should immediately complete its semi-built projects in the power-supply and air aviation sector, including the railway from Tashkent to Peshawar through Afghanistan.
