Summer snow blankets central Afghanistan

KABUL: Unprecedented snow has covered the country’s central province of Bamyan, a report said the other day.
Heavy rainfall also happened in most provinces of the country, including Takhar and Badakhshan in the north and Kabul and some neighboring provinces, media reported.
This is an unprecedented event in the country’s history to witness summer with heavy snowfall as at this time of the year will pose a threat to the livestock and damages agricultural products.
Several people in various regions of Bamyan province have reported that it snowed to an unusual level in their localities at the start of the summer season, sharing images of the snow Residents of villages in Bamyan and the Qarghanato area of the province report that snow has fallen last night in many villages,
and the weather was substantially colder than ever.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said that snow has fallen in various parts of Bamyan province, this morning, but that there was not enough to cause traffic congestion.
The snowfall in Bamyan province comes at a time when meteorologists at the Afghanistan Meteorological Department issued a warning for heavy rainfall in certain parts of Afghanistan and the possibility of flash floods and gust wind.
