KABUL: The historic palace of Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi in Lashkargah city, the capital of Helmand province, has been recovered from usurpers, the provincial Information and Culture Directorate said in a statement the other day.
The palace has been recovered through joint efforts of the provincial government, the provincial police chief, the provincial Information and Culture Directorate and Lashkargah municipality, according to the statement.
Head of the provincial historical monuments of Helmand, Mawlavi Hamdullah Mudassar said that the ancient area has been usurped by powerful men for years.
“We shared the issue of restoring the historical palace with the Ministry of Information and Culture and they assured that they will discuss the issue with the international institutions to reach a positive conclusion soon” he said.
Mudassar assured that the process of cleaning the historical sites from the usurpers was ongoing and they will retake the historical areas in districts and Lashkargah city from the powerful individuals to be restored and repaired. Helmand is one of the provinces of the country, with a lot of historical sites most of them have been recently recovered from powerful men.
