Students among 3 killed in Faryab, Baghlan road crashes

SHEBIRGHAN: At least three commuters including two school students were killed and four others wounded in two separate road incidents in the country’s northern provinces of Faryab and Baghlan, an elder and a provincial official said Saturday.
“Two Afghan-Turk school students, Ahmad Qais Azizi and Abdul Basit Aimaq lost their lives and another sustained injury, after two head-on corolla cars collided with each other in Andkhoy district of Faryab province, late on Friday,” an elder of the district told media.
Elsewhere, in a similar road incident on Friday afternoon, one commuter was killed and three others wounded, in Dushi district of northern Baghlan province, Mawlavi Shir Ahmad Burhani, the provincial police spokesman said.
Officials often blame reckless driving for the deadly road incidents, as late on December, a police district chief has been killed after his car skidded off and fell into a roadside ditch in western Herat province.
