Standard building to be provided for Kandahar’s Museum

KANDAHAR: Museum of Kandahar will be provided with a new standard building, the provincial Information and Culture Department said in a statement the other day. Director of the Provincial Information and Culture Mawlavi Inammullah Samangani said that the restoration work was underway by CHACRI on the old building of the directorate and after res toration, the Museum will be transferred to the newly restored building. “With the cooperation of the Ministry of Information and Culture and the Cultural Heritage of Afghanistan Conservation and Research Institute (CHACRI) under the supervision of the Information and Culture Department, the Museum will be transferred to the old building of the directorate,” the statement quoted Samangani as saying. He added that after the Museum’s transfer to the new building, the necessary facilities and services will be provided for the visitors. It is pertinent to mention that Kandahar’s Museum with 845 historical works and relics, is one of the richest museums in the country and dates back to 4000-8000 BC. The Kabul Times
