Hundreds of people have been reported martyred and hundreds wounded, after an earthquake jolted some parts of the country, most intensely Paktika and Khost provinces.
According to the Ministry of State for Disaster Management, hundreds of people have been killed and more than 1000 have been injured in the incident.
The epicenter was 44km from Khost city. It was measured 6.1 on the Richter scale.
Gian Naka, Barmal and Zaroki are the harshest disaster affected districts of the province, where the overwhelming tragedy happened.
Scores of women and children were among the victims.
Immediately, officials of the Islamic Emirate arrived in the scene and started evacuation of those wounded in the incident.
Though, the exact number of dead and injured people are not clear, but according to local officials, the number of casualties may rise due to critical health condition of some injuries.
Also, in the country’s Nangarhar province, some people have been reported killed and scores wounded by the ever-harshest quake.
The incident also inflected heavy property losses on the residents of the provinces.
After report about the incident, a message from Shaikhul-Hadith Amir-ul-Mumineen – the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Hibbatullah Akhunzada conveyed his condolence and sympathy to the families of the victims in the disaster affected Paktika and Khost provinces.
“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) expresses its deepest condolences to the families and relatives of all the victims of this tragic event. The IEA pays tribute to the martyrs and wishes patience to the affected families and a speedy recovery to those who are wounded,” the Supreme Leader said in his message.
The IEA Supreme Leader instructed the Ministry of Disaster Management to coordinate with other relevant officials including governors and the local people to rush to the affected areas as soon as possible and evacuate the martyrs, transport and treat the wounded individuals and provide emergency aids to the households affected by the grievous tragedy.
Not only the world countries, but the entire Afghanistan, including national traders and the ordinary people should join hands in providing assistance for those affected and displaced in the earthquake.
Paktika and Khost provinces are the painful body of Afghanistan. Afghans, all over the country are a single nation. So, they should join hands to provide all needed aids assistances to the people who lost their shelters and properties.
All Afghans are mourning the death of their fellow citizens and extend their sympathy to those lost their loved ones and property and houses.
