KABUL: A total of 6 million Afghans have received cash assistance in 2023, the World Food Program (WFP) said in a statement on Saturday. The cash assistance which had been funded by donor institutions and countries, including Germany, Australia and Norway, has been distributed among needy people in Afghanistan, the statement said, adding that the cash assistance boosts people’s purchasing power and the local economy. Afghanistan is currently facing economic problems and more than 23 million people need help. The United Nations has requested three billion dollars to provide aid in Afghanistan in 2024.
