Seven check dam projects completed in Logar

PUL-E-ALAM: The Acting Minister of Energy and Water Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, in an official ceremony, inaugurated 7 check dam projects worth 17 million Afghani (some 238,809 U.S dollars) in the country’s eastern province of Logar, the ministry said in a statement Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by scores of provincial officials, scholars and elders, the statement said. Speaking about the importance of the projects, Mullah Mansoor said that the projects have been implemented with the financial support of the ministry in Baraki Barak, Khushi, Kherwar and Charkh districts of the province to strengthen underground water and help in better water management, according to the statement. “Not only in Logar province, the ministry of energy and water has implemented thousands of check dam projects across the country to manage water, control seasonal floods and strengthen underground water sources,” the statement quoted Mansoor as saying.
