Security sure, UN report baseless, spokesman

KABUL: The Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Affairs Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani, in a statement late on Friday rejected the recent report of the United Nations Secretary-General regarding an increase in security incidents in the country, terming it as contrary to the existing realities. Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Affairs Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani, rejecting the report said: “The security situation is currently stable throughout the country, and apart from minor incidents, no major events have occurred that would indicate instability”. According to the statement, the operations carried out by the Islamic Emirate security forces against drug traffickers and kidnapping gangs may have been recorded as insecurity in the UN report, which is not correct.The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, presenting his quarterly report on the United Nations Security Council, regarding Afghanistan’s security situation, in a part of the report said that security incidents have increased in the country.
