JALALABAD: A total of 545 light and heavy weapons and more than 10 military vehicles have been confiscated in the country’s eastern province of Nangarhar, a military spokesman said the other day.
A large amount of ammunition and military equipment have also been recovered during the six-day operation, Mawlavi Wahidullah Mohammadi, spokesman of the 21st Khalid Ben-e-Walid Army Corps told The Kabul Times.
A man Ihsanullah, who was abducted and kept hidden in a building where he was badly tortured for up to 28 days in Shaikh Mistry district of the province, was freed during the operation that was successfully launched and ended in the provincial capital city and its adjacent areas. Investigation is still underway to arrest the kidnappers, the spokesman assured.
