KABUL: Mayor of Kabul Mawlavi Abdul Rasheed started sapling planation in some areas in the capital, Bakhtar News Agency reported Sunday.
By planting a sapling in an area in Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan hill, the mayor kicked off sapling plantation, the state-owned agency said.
During the campaign, Mawlavi Esmatullah Haseen Deputy Mayor spoke about the importance of sapling plantation and greenery in accordance to the holy religion of Islam, according to the agency.
“Kabul has no sufficient green areas, sapling campaign is a good opportunity for the residents of Kabul to take part in the process of the city’s greenery,” the agency quoted him as saying.
He assured the citizens of the leading body of Kabul municipality‘s efforts towards the greenery of the capital.
The deputy mayor asked the citizens for taking part in the greenery of the city and called on them to plant at least one tree in their nearby area.
