Russia’s Afghanistan SCO membership support welcomed

Once heard that Afghanistan is on the verge of becoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), with the support of Russia, a number of the Afghan citizens expressed happiness about the move and said that their country was stepping up towards economic development and further expansion of relation with the regional countries. Russian TASS news agency quoted Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special envoy for Afghanistan as saying that if the Islamic Emirate is recognized, Russia will support Afghanistan’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The support from Russia will be effective in the way to Afghanistan to become SCO member, Kabulov Russian special presidential envoy for Afghanistan and director of the Foreign Ministry’s Second Asia Department, said at a briefing. In response to a question, he, as quoted by the TASS news agency, said: “I think we will,” adding “however, it’s not only about recognition.” Praising the move by Russia, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, with Zabihullah Mujahid as the senior spokesman called it a positive step being taken towards normalization of relation and that the only solution to the issues between Afghanistan and the regional countries is that the expansion of economic and diplomatic relation will undeniably, benefit both sides. The Russia’s envoy for Af hanistan, also said that since the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an economic organization, Afghanistan must first organize its economic in order to other members of the organization see its membership logical and that the country should also put its economy in soe kind of order for other SCO members to view its accession as reasonable. Founded in 1996 by the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic, international security and defense organization, with membership from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, India and Pakistan, while Afghanistan is still an observer member in the organization. Indeed, our national interest is very important and the Islamic Emirate should widen its interaction with not only Russia or other of its neighbors and central Asian nations, but also should normalize its economic relation with other world countries, including western and European nations in accordance with our national interests. Economic experts, also believe that the move taken by Russia is very effective and is in the interest of both countries, as membership of Afghanistan [if recognized officially] in the SCO, will help strengthen relation with the member countries further than ever and will help Afghanistan economically develop and compete with the regional countries. Afghan citizens are also expressing pleasure over the recent move made by Russia to support the country’s membership in the SCO saying such move would help the country develop economically and the doors of friendship would open between the country and other economic powers, especially, regional countries.
