Role of media in directing public opinion

The media is the living language of countries and nations, and
governments are responsible for safeguarding it and making efforts
for its progress and advancement.

Media plays a fundamental role in the intellectual maturity of the public, just as it contributes to its deviation. By reflecting realities and events and preventing the spread of rumors, the media fosters the growth of public opinion. Conversely, concealing truths and propagating rumors leads to the deterioration of ideas, causing difficulties for people in discerning right from wrong. A nation devoid of media inevitably remains in the dark, oblivious to its destiny, future, and the ongoing transformations within its borders. Throughout history, the media has traditionally played a pivotal role in governments and administrations, serving as a means to rouse nations. In contemporary times, it has evolved into a mod ern form, assuming an even more crucial role in enlightening societies. The media in Afghanistan also emerged through the efforts made by prominent scholars and intellectuals of the country, and the conscientious offspring and scientists of this land endeavored to revive it. In this way, they provided the nation and the people with the information and knowledge. The media is the living language of countries and nations, and governments are responsible for safeguarding it and making efforts for its progress and advancement. The progress and advancement of the press depend on knowledgeable and insightful individuals who must be supported and encouraged by governments. Talented and enlightened individuals can properly bear this heavy burden and elevate the media to the peaks of progress and excellence in the light of science and knowledge. This important task and great service require significant resources, and governments are responsible for fulfilling their national, patriotic, and faith-based duty by providing for it. It is worth noting that the media plays a prominent and crucial role in today’s Islamic countries, and it is considered indispensable for the awareness of Muslims and the reviving of the Islamic nation. One of the reasons for the backwardness of Muslims is their unawareness of current politics and developments, which has arisen from neglecting the role of the media. If Muslims hadn’t neglected to revive the media, the Islamic nation would have achieved complete awareness, and today, it would have been at the forefront of the world in terms of disclosure and technology. Unfortunately, the neglect of later Muslims has led to stagnation and decline, while the non-Muslim world, through their efforts, has reached the pinnacle of progress beyond the imagination of backwardminded individuals. Today, as Afghanistan has achieved freedom and independence, we must work for the growth of our nation’s awareness and unite our efforts to improve the country’s media affairs. S. Raqib
