Regional countries’ tendency to enter engagement with Afghanistan

For example, the implementation of major regional projects as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan- Pakistan-India (TAPI) project, Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) Power Interconnection, CASA-1000, an ambitious renewable energy infrastructure construction project and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a major and pilot project of the Belt and Road Initiative is not possible without positive engagement with Afghanistan.

Although Afghanistan has suffered from destructive and long wars in the past more then 4 decades and made the country fall backward for years, the world and regional countries are still interested and have tendency to interaction and relations with this country as Afghanistan has its own features one of which is its geographical position through which South Asia is connected to Central Asia. Without the partnership and cooperation of Afghanistan economic development is not possible within the region, particularly in South and Central Asia. For example, the implementation of major regional projects as the Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) project, Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) Power Interconnection, CASA-1000, an ambitious renewable energy infrastructure construction project and China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a major and pilot project of the Belt and Road Initiative is not possible without positive engagement with Afghanistan. Another feature of Afghanistan is its natural resources which can change the country to a rich and developed country in the region. Afghanistan reportedly sits on an estimated $1 trillion worth of rare earth minerals, including huge deposits of lithium. Now that the world is facing with climate change crisis and it is trying to somehow cut down the use of oil and gas to prevent from bad impacts of climate change, naturally, the alternative is to go for using electronic vehicles and equipment; therefore, lithium is much needed to develop electronic vehicles and equipment. In recent weeks, despite of continued pressures from the West, the regional countries’ tendency to direct engagement and relations with Afghanistan has increased as all participants in recent Samarkand meeting have stressed on mutual relations with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA). It is a good opportunity for the Islamic Emirate to make use of the opportunity to go for mutual relations with the world and implement major infrastructural projects in the country. Abu Sufia
