Reconstruction work of Mazar-i-Sharif-Sheberghan highway started

MAZAR-I-SHARIF: Reconstruction work on Mazar-iSharif-Sheberghan highway costing 16 million Afghani (some 201,842 U.S. dollars), has been started in an official ceremony, the provincial Public Works Department said in a statement Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by a number of local authorities including the provincial Deputy Governor Mawlavi Noorulhoda Abu Idris and the Director of the Public Works Department Mawlavi Akbar Fayaz, the statement said. The highway length 55 kilometers connects Balkh with Jawzjan, Faryab and Sar-e-Pul provinces and its 167 damaged areas will basically be reconstructed, the statement said. Mawlavi Abu Idres said that the Islamic Emirate is making efforts to implement development projects countrywide, according to the statement. “Reconstruction of Mazari-Sharif –Sheberghan highway will decrease traffic incidents and facilitate the transportation of agricultural products of Jawzjan, Faryab and Sar-e-Pul provinces to the markets,” the statement quoted Abu Idres as saying.
