Provincial women empowerment program to be enforced, VP Danesh

VP Danesh chairing gender and women affairs committee’s session

KABUL: In gender and women affairs committee’s session held under the chairmanship of Second Vice President Sarwar Danesh, policy of access of women to right of heirloom and property and detailed report regarding Promote (women empowerment program) was delivered.
In the session, second vice president by praising the Promote team and USAID considered women empowerment program as common goal of the people, government of Afghanistan and international organizations and stressed on strengthening the program.
He added that close cooperation between the Promote USAID and government institutions as MRRD, MoRR, MoE and other relevant institutions could prevent from repeating works and increase mutual cooperation.
Second vice president also stressed that ministry of women affairs should deliver report of Promote program to gender and women affairs committee so that government institutions could take effective steps towards maintaining cooperation.
He added that executors of the Promote program should have close cooperation with Independent Administrative Reforms and Civil Services to convince trained women and girls to be absorbed in government institutions through competition programs.
Second vice president also asked the Promote USAID to further pay attention to low-developed provinces and implement the program there.
Promote or empowerment of women is a partnership between the Government of Afghanistan and the United States Agency for International Development to secure the gains made by Afghan women in the past decade while providing a new generation of Afghan women with the leadership skills to make vital contributions to Afghanistan’s development in governance, civil society, and the economy. 
Based on report of USAID and Promote team, women empowerment programs have been implemented in various sections as development of women leadership, women in government, women in economy and partnership of women, which resulted in good achievements.
