President Ghani tasks commission to mark ‘Martyrs Week’

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a decree has set up a 10-member commission led by Acting Defense Minister, Asadullah Khalid to mark martyrdom anniversaries of national hero Ahmad Shah Masoud and Peace Martyr Burhanuddin Rabbani.

According to the decree issued yesterday, President Ghani assigned a 10-member commission to better commemorate the ‘Martyrs Week’ which is coincided with 19th martyrdom anniversary of “National Hero” Ahmad Shah Masoud and 9th martyrdom anniversary of “Martyr of Peace” Pro. Ustad Burhanuddin Rabbani.

Based on the decree, the commission members include: Enayatullah Shadab head of Jamiat-e-Islami party, Enayatullah Baligh presidential advisor on religious affairs, Ahmad Wali Masoud head of Masoud Foundation, senior deputy minister on security affairs of Ministry of Interior, Adib Fahim head of Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim Foundation, deputy minister of publication affairs for Ministry of Information and Culture, police chief of Kabul, head of protection and security unit of senior officials, head of Kabul national directorate of security and head Afghanistan Radio and Television.

In the decree, President Ghani tasked ministry of interior, National Directorate of Security and Kabul joint forces command to take serious measures for security of the ceremony.
