President Ghani discusses peace process with political figures

KABUL: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani held a meeting at the Presidential Palace with key Afghan political leaders late on Wednesday to discuss the peace process, particularly focusing on the latest peace plan proposed by the US.

According to the presidential palace, consultation between the Afghan political leaders and President Ghani over the peace process will continue.

Those who participated in the Wednesday meeting were First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish, Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, Abdullah Abdullah, the head of the High Council of National Reconciliation, Jihadi leader Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayaf, Mir Rahman Rahmani, the lower house speaker and Fazel Hadi Muslimyar, the upper house speaker.

“The meeting focused on the overall security situation in the country, forming a national consensus and the continuity of consultations,” according to a presidential palace statement.
