KABUL: President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, leading a high-ranking state delegation arrived in southern province of Kandahar, where he prayed for the soul of Gen. Razeq who was martyred after a senior provincial officials’ meeting, by a Taliban claimed infiltrator, a statement from the Presidential Palace said Tuesday.
The president said Gen. Abdul Razeq’s murder was planned in Pakistan and asked the neighboring country to handover those behind the murder plot to Afghanistan.
While praying for his soul during a gathering in the Kherqa-e-Mubarak of Kandahar City, he said millions of Gen. Abdul Razeq followers would take his revenge and that security of the province was a top priority of the government.
The president also asked the related organs to name roads after Gen. Razeq in Kabul and Kandahar provinces, a move to encourage the youths to follow his way as he said the prominent security official had done more for defending the country’s soil against the international terrorism and had well tightened security of the province, the statement added.
According to the statement, President Ghani has instructed to rebuild the Kherqa-e-Mubarak, where Gen. Razeq was laid to rest.
He once again insistently asked Pakistan to handover the criminals and murderers of Gen. Abdul Razeq to be brought to justice in Afghanistan, the statement added.
The president, in the statement also conveyed the condolence message of Afghanistan international partners, particularly the US vice-president on the martyrdom of Gen. Abdul Razeq and that they pledged to provide support and cooperation in war on terror with Afghanistan, the statement said.
