KABUL: Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in a meeting with Turkmen Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Wafa Khadzhiev and his accompanied delegation
discussed starting work on the Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India (TAPI) gas pipeline project in Afghanistan.
In the meeting attended also by head of TAPI project Mohammad Murad Amanov and Turkmen ambassador to Kabul Hoja Ovezov, both sides discussed and exchanged view related to expansion of bilateral relations and cooperation and implementation of regional projects in particular TAPI project.
In the meeting, the Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister said that his visit to Afghanistan was to follow work on TAPI project which would be soon started in Afghanistan as all necessary preparations have been taken in this regard.
Briefing related to benefits the project towards creating employment opportunities and improvement of trade in Afghanistan, the Turkmen Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs shared offers of the Turkmen side in connection with acquisition of land, exemption of taxes during implementation of the project to Herat and security plan with Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, head of the TAPI project briefed related to technical issues of the project and facilities the project would bring in connection with creating employment opportunities and trade.
In the meeting, Abdul Salam Hanafi said that relations between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan was good and the IEA would make effort to further expand the relations between the two countries, adding that Afghanistan considered the TAPI project as its national project and the government was fully ready to take practical steps towards implementation of the project.
He further said that Afghan relevant organs would work to provide necessary conditions for implementation of the project in the country.
