KABUL: The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) has started distributing process of 3,216 poultry packages to poor women in seven provinces of the country.
The distribution process of the packages was officially started from Kabul through the Community Livestock and Agriculture Project (CLAP) of the Ministry, according to a statement received by The Kabul Times.
Addressing the distribution ceremony, Shir Shah Amiri, Deputy for Agriculture and Livestock of the Ministry said, that 3,216 poultry packages will be distributed to poor and destitute women in seven previously surveyed provinces, adding that the process would support poor women, create small job opportunities and improve their economic situation.
A number of benefited women expressed their satisfaction from the Ministry’s assistance, according to the source.
Hadia, one of the beneficiaries, said that with receiving poultry packages, a big change will occur in her life, adding that each local egg is sold in the market for 10 to 12 Afghanis.
Rahima, another woman said by selling eggs, she can support her children’s school expenses as well as her family’s economy.
The packages included 4 months-chickens and other essential means for poultry.
