Poppy on over 400 acres of land destroyed, dozens arrested in Baghlan

KABUL: Poppy on 422 acres of land has been destroyed and scores of individuals arrested over purchasing and trafficking of narcotics in the country’s northern province of Baghlan, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement the other day. The counter-narcotics police personnel of the ministry, during a series of anti-drugs operations, have destroyed poppy on 422 acres of land and arrested 15 individuals in various parts of the province, the statement said. Additionally, a committee designated for the purpose of assisting addicts successfully treated and rehabilitated 26 individuals who were previously collected by the police in the province. After completing the necessary treatment, these individuals were subsequently reunited with their families, the statement added. These efforts reflect the ongoing commitment of the authorities in Baghlan province to com bat drug cultivation and trafficking, as well as their dedication to providing support and rehabilitation for those affected by substance abuse.
