Poppy lands eradicated in 6 provinces, official

KABUL: The country’s ministry of interior has said Wednesday that counternarcotic personnel of the ministry have destroyed up to 75 acres of lands grown with poppy in six provinces of the country.In his official twitter account, Abdul Nafe Takor, the Interior Ministry’s spokesman said that the poppy lands had been eradicated poppy farms in 75 acres of lands in Sar-e-Pul, Herat, Paktika, Zabul, Nimruz and Khost provinces, the spokesman twitted.  According to him, counter-narcotic police have also recovered two drug laboratories and destroyed in Ghor province and arrested one suspect with hand in running the plants and dealing drugs. The spokesman also said five drug dealers have also been detained in Bamyan and Herat provinces. The Islamic Emirate has banned the production, sale and dealing of narcotics, but some farmers are still growing the plants in their areas. The Kabul Times
