Poppy lands destroyed in Kandahar, Farah

KABUL: Provincial counter-narcotics personnel of Farhah and Kandahar provinces eradicated 22 acres of poppy lands in Bala Block district of Farah and Spin Boldak district of Kandahar provinces, the provincial governors’ offices said Monday.
“In a series of operations about 12 acres of poppy lands have been eradicated in Bala Block district of Farah province,” a statement from the governor’s office said.
About 20 acres of poppy lands have also been eradicated in Spin Boldack district of the country’s southern Kandahar province, another statement from the governor’s office said.
Hundreds of acres of poppy lands in the districts have earlier been eradicated.
The Islamic Emirate has pledged to continue fighting drugs by eliminating all poppy-cultivated lands, part of its plans to reduce the vicious phenomenon to zero countrywide.
