Polio vaccination campaign launched countrywide, official

KABUL: Polio is one of the deadly diseases that threaten the live of human life, especially children and causes permanent paralysis.
Polio not only affects the family of the paralyzed person but also causes problems for the society and the health system of the country.
There are different types of polio? The most common polio is eliminated through oral vaccination.
The Ministry of Public Health launched the polio vaccination campaign in the country.
Official of the Ministry of Public Health say, this campaign will continue for four days with the cooperation of international aid organizations, and more than six million children under five years of age will be vaccinated in 28 provinces of the country.
Polio campaign will cover 248 districts of the southern, southeastern, northern, northeastern, western, and central provinces of the country.
Ministry of Public Health spokesman Sharafat Zaman said, six national polio vaccination campaigns have been launched in different provinces through MoPH, and our current coverage is 74 percent.
Efforts are underway that the children in every corner of the country should be vaccinated, he added.
At the same time, a number of residents of the capital welcomed the start of polio vaccination campaign and asked for the launching of the campaign in remote areas of the country.
Kabul residents say, Polio is a dangerous disease, and there should be more of this vaccine in the country.
The ministry must take a serious decision, to eliminate the disease, and must launch awareness campaigns so that people understand the seriousness of this vaccine.
According to the health officials of the ministry, within the last six months, an incident of polio has been recorded in Paktika province, and the virus is similar to the polio virus that was seen in Quetta city, the capital of Baluchistan province, Pakistan.
Dr. Abdurrahman Moral who works in one of the country’s hospitals says, polio eradication process needs a global struggle and every year a huge amount of money is poured into Afghanistan by countries and aid organizations to eradicate this disease, it is necessary to manage these aids in a proper way, to eradicate polio from Afghanistan in the near future.
On the other hand, poliomyelitis is a contagious disease that can spread easily and without geographical boundaries and make a person permanently paralyzed, he said adding the international community for immunity of their citizens trying to prevent the re-infection of this disease in their residency.
