Plan to change taxicabs’ color into turquoise and white in Kabul to be implemented soon

KABUL: Changing the color of the taxi cars from yellow and white into bright torquies and white would soon be practiced all over the capital Kabul, while in the provinces, the color would remain bright torquies, officials said Tuesday. In an official ceremony, the Kabul Traffic Department and officials from the Ministry of Transportation attended a ceremony to inaugurate the plan requiring all taxi drivers to change the color of their city taxis from yellow into torquies and white while in the provinces, the color would remain bright torquies. The ceremony was attended by a number of high-ranking government officials including the Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs Abdul Rahman Ahmad and the General Director of Kabul traffic department Hassibullah Mukhtar. Speaking at the ceremony, Hasibullah Mukhtar, the general director of the country’s traffic said that the purpose of changing the color of taxicabs is to create urban order and innovation “The purpose of changing the color of taxi cars into blue is to create order in the city and prevent traffic irregularities in the city,” said Mukhtar, adding the color of over 500 taxis has so far been changed in the capital Kabul. He added the Kabul traffic department is making efforts to change the color of 2,000 to 3,000 taxicabs in the three zones of Kabul, Nangarhar, and Kandahar every month. Mukhtar also added that taxi drivers should change the color of their cars so that they do not face legal action. It is worth mentioning that each city taxi unit is changed color for 9100 Afghani by Static Company which has a contract with Kabul Traffic Department. Babrak Qaumi
