Peshawar cardiology institute opens new unit for Afghan patients

KABUL: Afghan Counsellor General, Najibullah Ahmadzai inaugurated a Separate Counter at Peshawar Institute of Cardiology to facilitate Afghan patients so that they could get better treatment without any delay, a press release from the Pakistani embassy in Kabul said yesterday.
The Counsellor General appreciated the role of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on this occasion and hoped that the institute would continue to provide maximum facilities to the Afghan patients, according to the press release. He further stated that Afghan patients visit Peshawar in great number to benefit from the established state of the art hospital which is positive gesture from the government of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Professor Dr. Shahkar Ahmad Shah, CEO/Medical Director, expressed his views saying, “that we are ready to enhance capacity of the Afghan nurses and doctors.” He further said that the Afghan patients are being treated here on equal footing as being our Muslim brethren. He elaborated: “Peshawar Institute of Cardiology is a blessing of Allah for all of us which is providing modern treatment to the needy and poor patients.”
Around more than 114 Afghan patients have been examined so far. In four months, Angiography of around 23 Afghan patients have been carried out successfully while open Heart Surgery of 11 Afghan patients have been carried out so far which shows our commitment to the Afghan patients.
